I notice it most when things feel busy.
When the house is loud, the day has been full, my mind is full! and there’s no real pause between one thing and the next. That’s usually when I become most aware of the space around me - whether it’s helping or adding to the noise.
Over time, both in my own home and in the spaces I design for clients, I’ve come back to the same idea:
The things we live with every day matter more than we think. Not in a styled way. In a physical way.
A throw you reach for without thinking. A cushion that actually makes sitting more comfortable. Fabric that feels good against your skin at the end of the day.
These aren’t big changes, but they shift how a space is experienced. They make it easier to settle. Easier to pause, even briefly. That’s what I’m interested in, not adding more, but choosing things that support how we actually live.
Linen has become a foundation for me in that sense. It’s breathable, it softens over time, and it doesn’t need to be managed. It settles into a space and improves with use, which is something I value more and more.
I think of it like denim in a wardrobe.
A base layer you can build from. You can add texture, pattern, wool, colour - but when the foundation is right, everything else sits more easily. This is why I’ve started here. A small collection of linen pieces, based on what I return to again and again - both at home and in my work. Things that are used daily. Things that don’t need to be styled. Things that quietly make a space feel better to be in.
